1st International Athens Conference “Play on Early Education”
This unique educational event will be held in Athens, between 11-13 of April, 2019.
It will be a dynamic conference aiming to widely present how Play, that is not controlled by the adults, can be the one and only Early Education element allowing children to discover the real world, at their own unique pace, through Respect, Freedom and Trust. And all this taking place downtown Athens, one of the most historical places in the world.
We are honored that 4 great contemporary influencers on play and education have accepted our invitation to act as keynote speakers:
• Suzanne Axelsson, the renowned Reggio inspired teacher from Sweden
• Dr. Peter Gray, the great psychologist from Boston, among other things author of the iconic book “Free to Learn”
• Tom Hobson, the famous “Teacher Tom” from Seattle in his third Greek visit
• Meynell Walter, the great playworker from UK, also Chair of the Executive Committee of the England, Wales and Northern Ireland branch of the IPA (International Play Association)
Participants in the conference will be able to interact with the above world class speakers, as well as with individual presenters from many different countries sharing their good stories in play. And of course to engage in hands-on, field play workshops.
The purpose is for everybody to realize that non-directed play deserves to be the main driver through which children grow, flourish and learn to acquire the ownership of their own life, at their own unique pace. And all this can become a feasible and effective early years’ class process, if only based on Respect, Freedom and Trust.
The conference is addressed to anyone involved or interested in early education, or play, or both, and feel it’s time for some new inspiration.
At the 1st Athens International Conference we mostly welcome International Presenters to come and share publicly their experiences of Play on Early Education. Beginning July 1st, 2018 anyone interested will be able to submit his/her paper through Suzanne Axelsson
All in all, the 1st International Athens Conference “Play on Early Education” is a unique opportunity to attend a top-class event while visiting a top historical place of the world. Athens is awesome in spring!
The event is inspired and organized by Dorothy Snot, a top class play-based learning preschool located in Athens.
