Professor John Axelsson has been a research group leader and course leader in neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet for 15 years and he is since 2017 also director for the sleep laboratory at Stockholm University.

With his research he aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of how we sleep in the rapidly developing 24 hour society, and its importance for health, cognitive processes and social behaviour.

John has during the last years become more and more focused on the importance of sleep for understanding brain development, learning, and why individuals react so differently to sleep loss.

In Athens Conference, John will talk about how sleep affects brain development during early years.
